The expenses screen

Your full expense history — where the money actually went

Logging is the input; this screen is the answer. Every expense sorted by period and category, with shares that show which line is eating the biggest piece of your month.

Start trackingHow logging works

Four ways to look at the same numbers

Four buttons sit at the top: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly. The button changes the length of the period the whole screen is talking about — the chart, the total, and the category breakdown underneath it.

Inside any of those views you swipe left and right between periods: one day to the previous day, one week to the week before, one month to the month before. Comparing this month with last month is a swipe, not a separate report.

The four views
DailyOne day in detail — useful when you're hunting for something you spent yesterday.
WeeklyA week's total spread over its days, which surfaces patterns like "Thursday is always the expensive day".
MonthlyThe default view: the whole month split by category — the one your budget is measured against.
YearlyThe wide picture: months side by side, so you see the trend rather than a snapshot.

The category breakdown: what's eating the month

Below the chart is the expenses breakdown: one card per category with its total and its share of the period's spending. The heaviest line sits at the top, so you see the cause before you go looking for it.

Tap any category and it expands into the individual expenses inside it, with date, name and amount. From that same list you can edit an expense — amount, name, category, date — or delete it if it was logged twice or got refunded.

Ready-made categories
Home & groceries, eating out, bills, transport, health, education, shopping, entertainment, travel and more.
Share of the total
Every category carries its percentage of the period, so the numbers mean something without arithmetic.
Detail inside a category
Open a category and you get every transaction in it, dated and named.
Edit and delete
Fix or remove any expense in place, without leaving the screen.

These numbers come from what you logged on the home screen by voice or text — this page doesn't invent data, it organises what you said.

Search looks at everything, not just the visible period

There's a search box beside the breakdown heading. Type "water", "uber" or a shop name and results filter as you type.

The detail that matters: search runs across all of your expenses, not only the period on screen. If the deck happens to be parked on an empty day and you search for something you spent last month, you'll still find it. Without that, search comes back empty and reads as broken.

It turns the practical question — "did I already pay that?" — into a two-second lookup instead of scrolling back through months.

What people actually solve here

Tracking isn't the goal. The goal is numbers that change a decision:

  • Spot the small repeating lines that quietly add up to a large monthly total.
  • Compare the same category across two months and see exactly where the increase came from.
  • Review one specific day when the maths doesn't add up.
  • Find an old expense by name without remembering its date.
  • Arrive at a realistic number to build a budget on, instead of a guess.

Once you have that realistic number, the next step is the Budget screen, where it becomes a per-category limit. And if the review turns up things that repeat every month, move them into recurring payments so you stop logging them by hand.

What this screen does not do

So you know the limits of the tool before you lean on it:

  • It is not a bank statement. What appears here is what you logged — no more, no less.
  • It does not import transactions from a bank or wallet automatically, and it never asks for banking credentials.
  • It is not double-entry accounting or tax invoicing for a business.
  • It gives no investment advice and no guaranteed forecasts — it's a mirror of your spending, not a financial adviser.
  • Accuracy tracks logging: an expense you never logged will never show up here.

Questions about the expense history

Can I see a previous month's expenses?

Yes. Pick the Monthly view and swipe back through the months; each one shows its total and its category breakdown.

Can I fix an expense that was logged wrong?

Yes. Open the category, tap the expense, and change the amount, name, category or date — or delete it.

Does search only look at the period on screen?

No. Search runs across all of your logged expenses, so a match shows up even when the view is parked on a different period.

Are the categories fixed?

There's a ready-made set covering most everyday spending, and you can move any expense to a different category by editing it.

Are these numbers calculated from my bank statement?

No. Flosyfeen has no access to any bank account. Every figure here comes from something you logged by voice or text.
